Assessor and Verifier Development

This programme has been developed by Training Matters in response to an identified need to develop the workplace assessors and verifiers within their own organisations for the mutual benefits of their own development and that of the company.

Working closely with the organisation training needs will be agreed and the programmes customised to address these needs.

Assessors and Verifiers skills

Using the structure of the Vocational Qualifications this programme is aimed at ensuring that these assessors and verifiers have the relevant skills to help them with the development of their own competencies and that of their trainees for whom they have responsibility.

This programme will develop -

• the assessors to ensure that they become more adept at planning, advising, assessing, giving feedback and meeting the requirements of the awarding body
• the verifiers to ensure their abilities to develop assessors, evaluating the internal assessment process, monitoring and reviewing internal assessment audit systems, carrying out related internal verification or moderation activities to ensure standardisation of assessment decisions within the centre.

The programme is kept as flexible as possible, but always used as a developmental tool, to fit in with the company’s own procedures and current objectives.

Tailored to needs

It is our belief that to maximise the benefits to both the individual and the company, the programme should be as individually tailored to their needs as possible. Therefore, we will operate flexible learning format, candidates have the opportunity to work online using our new innovative web based portfolio system, however we will still meet with the candidates in their workplace at locations and times suitable to them. Open learning tasks will be undertaken outwith every meeting.

Timescales

We would expect the time scale to be between 2 - 4 months for either of the units.

Participants

Candidates will currently be in positions allowing them opportunities to generate assessing and verifying evidence within their workplaces. There is no upper or lower age limit - although the most important attribute will be a commitment to achieve.
